It is just a matter of taste by the end of the day. Last but not least, I actually think there are plenty of third party developers who deliver great games for the Nintendo Switch. Hopefully it does not take that long until the next technology leap, but we are at bad times with covid and the war. Despite I would like one, it feels just like a Gamegear at the moment. Not only speaking about the dualsense shock controller something. It is just recently that Microsoft realised that what it was lacking most is proper content.Īnd if it was not for Nintendo, the Playstation would not be the way it is today. Or will they rather stay the giant which seems to have grown less in size compared to overpumped chickens like Xbox who mostly relies on numbers and hardware. The question is therefore rather: will Nintendo consider adapting to the western market and eventually risk their IPs and brands. Monster Hunter is truly a great reflection to that. But when you break it down to gaming, gameplay and fun, you have exactly that discrepancy between Nintendo and the western market. And then you have the same people being dissapointed by MHR due to the lack of presentation. Like with MH:W you have people who love the presentation so much more for valid reasons. It just happens that a lot of people does not perceive it like that anymore due them being overshadowed by marketing and the bigger love of Western market for the Xbox and Playstation (and naturally Playstation was Nintendo's biggest mistake if you will). Nintendo is still the giant it used to be on the gaming market. It starts with banal thing the nowadays players do think little to none about, like the fact how awesome the size of the Nintendo Switch controller fits my small hands in comparison to PS4 or Xbox controllers. Other consoles have similar issues, they are just less noticable as much as people in the West can barely grasp while the Xbox is such a meh console in Japan. And nothing says that better than being able to put the Switch on stand and play with another player in your hospital room or wherever you want. A lot were dissapointed by the weak hardware while all I could see was the fun, the brilliance of handheld reborn with a dock, but furthermore the console itself being a love letter not only to fans, but to gaming fans who care about gaming like I do: it is about playing together and being childish together in game design and console design alike. I remember very well how amazed I was the very first time I saw the Nintendo Switch announcement. What might look like traditionalists doing is simply their point of view and focus which seems foreign for the Western audience, who more than often discards the idea of different cultures and therefore different tastes and possibilities. On the other hand, the issues lie less in Nintendo being Nintendo, it is more about the deep rooted "culture clash" which just happens to be reflected with Monster Hunter very well recently in MH:W vs. But the support in Japanese is above standards, especially when you know Nintendo. On the hand, developers have a good grasp about early Nintendo news, as announcements might look "rare" for the public and general audience. While I could not agree more with the wishes and hopes for a new, better Nintendo console, there seems to be a misconception about Nintendo. But, how long will it take them to finish it and when will it be announced? I'm 100 percent sure a new console is in development. It just takes them forever to announce anything. One that is a bit more robust and actually has some teeth so third party développers may come back. So, the rare new third party games being released that interests me will stay out of reach. What I don't like is that it's so underpowered développers literally skip it entirely. More battery life in theory and a smooth 30 fps is fine for me. Also, I don't care playing at 30 fps on the go. Even if the Switch itself disappoints me. But, y'know, too much buttons needed for a portable device.īut, as I said earlier.
